Bonsai

The short version

1. What you authorize Bonsai to do

When you upload a bill, you authorize Bonsai to: (a) read the bill and any explanation-of-benefits you provide; (b) contact the listed provider, billing office, or insurer using the email address and phone number we discover or that you supply; (c) negotiate on your behalf within the tone and floor you set in Settings; and (d) record and store transcripts of those conversations for your reference.

Bonsai will not sign settlement letters, commit to payment plans, or send funds. Every binding action requires your explicit approval in the dashboard.

2. Accuracy of the information you provide

You agree that the bills, identifying details, and billing addresses you upload are accurate and that you have the right to share them. Bonsai relies on these to identify itself to providers; misuse (impersonating someone else, submitting bills you do not owe) is prohibited and will result in account termination.

3. Not legal, medical, or financial advice

Bonsai is a tool, not a lawyer, doctor, or financial advisor. Negotiation outcomes vary, and nothing in the dashboard or in any agent reply constitutes professional advice. Always confirm material decisions with a qualified human professional.

4. Account and data

You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Bonsai stores your bills, transcripts, and negotiation history under your account. You can export everything at any time from Settings → Account, and delete your account from the same page; deletion is irreversible.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Bonsai to harass providers, file claims you know to be invalid, or attempt to extract data outside your own account. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that abuse the agent-to-human channels.

6. Service availability and changes

Bonsai is offered as-is during this hackathon / preview phase. We may pause, modify, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We'll do our best to notify you in advance of changes that affect active negotiations.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Bonsai is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from negotiations conducted through the service, including lost discounts, declined settlements, or provider disputes. Our total liability is limited to fees you have paid Bonsai in the prior 12 months (currently zero during preview).

8. Contact

Questions or concerns: reply to any Bonsai email or write to the address listed at the bottom of those messages. We read everything.
